The Knicks Fan's Confusion

Zach Randolph.

Really?

Zach Randolph.

Seriously?

Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry on the court at the same time.

This works? Really?

Zach Randolph in a locker room with Curry and Starbury and Nate Robinson.

This is a good idea?

Trading for four years worth of this contract, so they can't make a good move for a huge free agent until 2011.

This helps?

There is a ton of talent on this team, but it looks more like a fantasy team than a coherent product on the court.

Playoff team?

Marbury, Crawford, Richardson, Randolph, Curry start. Lee, Balkman, Jeffries, Robinson, and, um, Mardy Collins, or Fred Jones off the bench.

Playoff team?

Isiah Thomas always does something.

When does he go away forever?

If that's your fantasy team I'd love to play in your league for lots and lots of money. The best part about their lineup is the fact that they now have two huge centers in a conference that has a poor representation of centers and their interior defense will still be towards the bottom of the rankings...In all reality though their salary cap was going to be extended until 2010 with or without Randolph and the Knicks wont miss Frye or Francis in the slightest. Plus, they did get the most talented player in the deal. However, the big news from last night is that Allen Houston has announced that he will be attempting a comeback and he decided to give the Knicks first crack at him (isn't he thoughtful?). At least the papers will have something to write about for a while.

Isiah always gets the guy with tbe best talent.

In fact, the same was true when they got Francis in the first place.

But the talent is always represented by flashy offensive numbers. Not team defense or passing or rebounding.

I will leave it with this quote from John Hollinger on ESPN.com today:

"It continues a tried and true formula in the NBA -- find the biggest sucker at the table, and take all their chips. Getting Isiah on the phone has been a key part of the rebuilding process for the Suns, Bulls, Raptors and Magic, and it appears the Blazers are the latest to take the plunge.
