All good things must come to an end and for certain, all the praise and "Ship is righted" columns and sentiments in the local tabloids will now cease...
But the fact of the matter is a) the bats go to sleep with Santana on the mound, b) his ERA went down despite the loss and c) if David Wright plants his feet and Jose Reyes takes his time, this is a game they likely win...
I would post more, but I'm already late after a long work night and I've got to go to work this morning. I'll have more after tonight's game, which could be the biggest of the homestand.
Mike Pelfrey has pitched well, but Jurgins is a tough lefty who's given us problems before. I really don't want to drop two of three to this Braves team so it makes this game a must-win...

Granted the game changed when Johan came out...and hindsight is 40/90 yadda yadda....however as poorly as they Mets played in the field and at the plate, this game was lost by Jerry Manuel.
In a 1-1 game in the top of the 7th with the Braves rallying, let the best pitcher in baseball get out of that jam. I don't care about the pitch count, leave the game on his shoulders through the 7th. Now, Johan gets lifted for Parnell, ok, and Parnell gets lifted for the most over-worked and over-rated pitcher in the NL. I understand you want you best lefty specialst facing their best lefty hitter and that he got the inning ending grounder he wanted... but seriously, either leave Johan in, let Parnell pitch, or bring in the Jap... Feliciano is NOT the answer to every lefty problem!!!! Ok, Reyes boots the inning ending play that would have sent them game tied into the bottom of the 7th... but why oh WHY would you leave Feliciano in to face Diaz????? Not only does Feliciano get destroyed by righties and Diaz lives off of lefty pitching, but you have a perfectly capable righty already ready to come in Stokes.... WTF? This was the worst move of the night. It was a guarentee that Diaz would get a hit.
There were several ways that game should have gone into the bottom of the 7th tied 1-1 and Jerry, with help from reyes, screwed up every option!
Boo I say!!! Johan deserves better!
